Five lessons from the 2025 CWEN Social

Takeaways from an afternoon of keynote, member showcases, and match-making that closed more deals than we had planned for.

Every year we learn something at the CWEN Social. Here are the five things we took away from 2025.

1. Curated match-making beats open networking

The highest-yield hour of the day was the 60-minute curated match-making session. Random mingling is lovely but rarely transactional. Deliberate pairing of members with specific buyers generated 23 new retail conversations in a single hour.

2. Members are the best keynotes

We had a high-profile external keynote — and it landed fine. But the strongest reaction all day was to a 12-minute story from a Kayunga-based member about how she priced her first wholesale deal. Member voices move the room.

“If there’s one change we’re making for 2026, it’s doubling down on member storytelling.”

3. Exhibition space is oxygen

Members with a product love showing it. Buyers love seeing it. Our exhibition corner closed more deals than our plenary stage. Next year, more space, better lighting, proper buyer flow.

4. Don’t skimp on food

A genuine insight. The quality of the food drives how long people stay, which drives how many introductions happen. Hospitality is part of the program, not a line item to trim.

5. Book the 2026 date now

CWEN Social 2026 is confirmed for September. Early registration for members opens in June. If you’re not yet a member, this is a good reason to change that.
